How is PuroClenz different from other Odor Removal Products?

What size treatment should I use?

A single 20-gram treatment is effective for most odors in small to medium-sized vehicles.

Interior of a vehicle or living space should be completely cleaned or detailed before starting your PuroClenz treatment.

For larger SUV’s, Van’s, or for bad odors you may require 2 x 20-gram treatments.

For an extreme odor in a vehicle you may wish to use our 100-gram treatment.

Five Tips on Removing Odors from Vehicles

  1. It’s always best to have the vehicle’s interior fully detailed.
  2. Identify the odor source…Is it coming from the carpet and or the padding underneath? Or is the odor due to something like smoke, wet dog, or food odors?
  3. Choose the right PuroClenz product for your odor source. The most severe odors may require our Ultra Treatment, whereas our Mini Applications can be used to quickly “freshen up” a stale vehicle.
  4. Follow instructions pertaining to time of treatment for various odor intensities.
  5. Air out the treated vehicle after PuroClenz treatment.

Will Puroclenz bleach or discolor fabrics, carpets, or rugs?

Puroclenz will not bleach or discolor fabrics, carpets, or rugs as long as the surfaces are dry before treatment, especially when using the gas-off process (the most common method). Using our 4 gram minis in 30 ounces of water in a spray bottle as a mist will not discolor any fabric. Using our 20 gram tab in 2 gallons of water in a pump sprayer set to mist will not discolor any fabric. Over saturation with either of these two treatments could cause some discoloration however a light mist setting on the sprayer will avoid any damage.

It’s important to note that our Carpet Solution is specifically designed for use on fabrics and will not cause any discoloration.

How do I treat stubborn odors in my car, like rotten food or spills?

For odors caused by spills (such as rotting fruit), we recommend using our Puroclenz Stabilized Carpet Solution. Each pack makes 2 gallons of stabilized Puroclenz that can be sprayed directly on the affected area. Be sure to saturate the carpet enough to reach the padding. Puroclenz prevents musty or mildew odors from forming.
If the odor has spread into your car’s air conditioning or heating system, you may also need to use PuroClenz Standard (20g). This will circulate through the climate system and treat every surface the air touches. Important: make sure the vehicle interior is completely dry before using a gas-off treatment.

Can I use the Puroclenz Ultra (100g) in large spaces like a basement?

Yes. The PuroClenz Ultra (100g) – Extra Strength Vehicle Odor Eliminator can be used in vehicles as well as larger living or work spaces. The general rule is 1 Ultra for every 700 sq ft for average odors. For stronger or more severe odor issues, use 1 Ultra for every 500 sq ft.

Accelerator Instructions

Batteries not included

Note: For optimal results, an aerator is recommended. While we no longer sell a branded PuroClenz accelerator, a standard Bubble Box Aerator (available on Amazon for ~$14) works perfectly and is reusable for future applications.

  1. Insert 2 D batteries into the battery compartment on the back of the aerator box.
  2. Attach one end of the clear air tubing onto the nozzle on the aerator.
  3. Connect the open end of the tubing to the aerator stone/ball piece.
  4. Use the clip on the back of the unit to mount it onto the rim or handle of the bucket so the stone sits submerged in the liquid. (The aerator box itself must remain dry on the exterior of the bucket).
  5. Turn on the aerator via the power switch when prompted in the application steps.

PuroClenz Mini (4g) – Odor Neutralizer for Car

*IMPORTANT: To maximize the full effect of PuroClenz, do not treat vehicles in direct sunlight. It is highly recommended that the vehicle is clean before treatment, preferably detailed

The mini 4 gram tablets are used in 2 ways

A. Pretreatment Spray: these tablets are recommended for pre-treating vehicle interiors with moderate to severe odor issues before our powerful 20 gram, gas-off application and safe for all surfaces. *Spray bottle NOT included*

  1. Fill spray bottle with 30 to 32 ounces of water.
  2. Drop in one 4-gram PuroClenz tablet, replace the spray nozzle cap, and wait for the water to turn yellow (approximately 2 minutes). PuroClenz is now active!
  3. Set the nozzle to spray/mist setting
  4. Keep spray nozzle 4-6 inches away and mist down the vehicle interior (dash, headliner, seats, carpet, seat belts, etc.). Optional: lightly spray all hard surfaces (door panels, moldings, etc.). Allow solution to sit for one minute before wiping off hard surfaces
  5. Now you are ready for the 20-gram PuroClenz gas-off application! (See 20 gram gas-off instructions to complete to PuroClenz process)

You may store the spray bottle with any remaining PuroClenz in a cool, dark place. It will remain active for up to 6 weeks for additional use!

B. Mini Gas-off Application: these tablets can also be used to freshen up a stale vehicle or to treat very mild odor issues.

  1. Important: to maximize the full effect of PuroClenz, do not treat the vehicle in direct sunlight
  2. Using the PuroClenz cup, add water to the lower, black 4-gram fill line
  3. Place the cup in a center console, armrest, or cup holder
  4. Tear open the foil packet, place the PuroClenz Mini tablet into the cup of water, exit the vehicle, and close the door. (Make sure all doors are locked and windows are closed during treatment)
  5. Allow PuroClenz to generate vapor for 30 minutes.
  6. After the initial 30 minutes, start the vehicle to run the AC on high for 10 minutes. (Note: quickly enter and exit the vehicle as you perform this step)
  7. Next, turn the recirculation button on high and allow to run for 10 minutes
  8. Once 10 minutes have passed on re-circulation mode, turn the vehicle off, remove the PuroClenz cup, and dispose of the remaining liquid down the drain
  9. At this point, your PuroClenz Mini application is complete! Optional: roll down the windows to air out any remaining vapors

PuroClenz Standard (20g) – Car Odor Eliminator

IMPORTANT: to maximize the full effect of PuroClenz, do not treat vehicles in direct sunlight. It is recommended that the vehicle is clean before treatment, preferably detailed.

  1. Remove all personal belongings, floor mats, and any air fresheners from the vehicle
  2. Make sure all doors and windows are closed during treatment. Open all air vents in the vehicle
  3. Sun visors should be positioned half way down, in order to expose both sides of the visor. Any sunroof cover should be closed and all seat belts engaged for maximum exposure to the PuroClenz vapor
  4. For Stronger Odors, Pre-Treat interior surfaces with a PuroClenz Mini 4 gram tablet (See PuroClenz Mini Instructions)
  5. Place the PuroClenz “Warning Sticker” in a highly visible area of the vehicle to indicate that it is undergoing treatment.
  6. Fill the designated PuroClenz cup to the fill line with room temperature water and place the cup in a center console, armrest, or cup holder
  7. Tear open the foil pack, place the PuroClenz tablet into the cup of water, exit the vehicle, and close the door. Allow PuroClenz to generate vapor for 30 minutes (It is best to lock the doors and keep the keys so that nobody accidentally enters the vehicle during treatment)
  8. After the initial 30 minutes, start the vehicle to run the AC on high for 10 minutes. (Note: quickly enter and exit the vehicle as you perform this step)
  9. Next, turn the recirculation button on high and allow to run for 10 minutes
  10. Once 10 minutes have passed on recirculation mode, turn the vehicle off, exit, shut the door, and allow PuroClenz to remain inside the vehicle. A mild odor should only take about 1 hour to complete, but you can leave the cup in the car for up to 24 hours. PuroClenz will continue to work/gas off until the remaining liquid is no longer yellow (turns clear). Once clear, dispose of the liquid down the drain.
  11. Once this Treatment Time expires, remove the PuroClenz cup and dispose of the remaining liquid down the drain
  12. Return to the vehicle and open all windows and doors. Start the vehicle for another 15 minutes in order to “air out” any remaining vapors
  13. As in Steps 7 and 8, turn on the AC and then the re-circulation for 10 minutes each, so that any fumes within the ventilation can also be removed
  14. Please leave all the windows open for at least 30 minutes to properly allow the PuroClenz vapors to disperse outside the vehicle
  15. FINISHED! The vehicle is now “PuroClenzed” and odor free. You will notice a slight odor that smells like Chlorine. This is normal and safe and will gradually dissipate. If the smell is bothersome, you may use a scented product to temporarily mask the PuroClenz smell as it dissipates. PuroClenz itself is not a masking agent and is meant to eliminate unpleasant odors entirely

Odors on 1-4 scale: 30 MINUTES

Odors on 5 to 7 scale: 1.5-2 HOURS

Odors on 8-10+ scale: OVERNIGHT

PuroClenz Ultra (100g) – Extra Strength Car Odor Remover

It is recommended that you use the PuroClenz accelerator for optimal results

*IMPORTANT: to maximize the full effect of PuroClenz, do not treat vehicles in direct sunlight. It is recommended that the vehicle is clean before treatment, preferably detailed.

DO NOT treat a damp interior (Example: recently detailed vehicle). Make sure interior is fully dry before application.

  1. Remove all personal belongings, floor mats, and any air fresheners from the vehicle (Important: to maximize the full effect of PuroClenz, do not treat vehicles in direct sunlight)
  2. Make sure all doors and windows are closed during treatment
  3. Open all air vents in the vehicle
  4. Sun visors should be positioned half way down, in order to expose both sides of the visor. Any sunroof cover should be closed and all seat belts engaged for maximum exposure to the PuroClenz vapor
  5. Using a 1-2 gallon plastic bucket, add approximately 2.5 quarts of water. Place bucket on passenger side floor (if using a PuroClenz Accelerator, it can be attached to the bucket and turned on at this step).
  6. Tear open the foil pack, place the PuroClenz Mega 100-gram tablet into the bucket of water, exit the vehicle, and close the door (It is best to lock the doors and keep the keys during treatment so that nobody accidentally enters the vehicle)
  7. Allow PuroClenz to generate vapor for 30 minutes
  8. After the initial 30 minutes, start the vehicle to run the AC on high for 10 minutes. (Note: quickly enter and exit the vehicle as you perform this step)
  9. Next, turn the recirculation button on high and allow to run for 10 minutes
  10. Once 10 minutes have passed on recirculation mode, turn the vehicle off, exit, shut the door and allow PuroClenz to remain inside the vehicle for 12-24 hours to more thoroughly eliminate odors
  11. Once this treatment time expires, remove the PuroClenz cup and dispose of the remaining liquid down the drain
  12. Return to the vehicle and open all windows and doors. Start the vehicle for another 20 minutes in order to “air out” any remaining vapors
  13. As in Steps 9 and 10, turn on the AC and then the recirculation for 10 minutes each, so that any fumes within the ventilation can also be removed
  14. Please leave all the windows open for at least an hour to properly allow the PuroClenz vapors to disperse outside the vehicle
  15. FINISHED! The vehicle is now “PuroClenzed” and odor free. You will notice an odor that smells like Chlorine. This is normal and safe and will gradually dissipate. The Mega dose application usually requires additional time to air out.

PuroClenz Mini (4g) – Odor Treatment For Home

his 4-gram application is used in two different ways: a Gas-Off Application for small spaces (powder rooms, small bathrooms, etc.) and a Liquid Application in a spray bottle to disinfect surfaces and target visible sources of odor on carpet and flooring. For larger spaces or more severe odor intensity, we recommend using our 20-gram or 100-gram application.

Areas to be treated must be entirely unoccupied during the application (this includes pets).

Gas-Off Application   

  1. PuroClenz works best in dark environments, so it is important to either treat at night or simply close your blinds, drapes, etc.   
  2. Make sure all doors and windows are closed during treatment.   
  3. Fill the designated PuroClenz cup to the 4-gram black fill line with room-temperature water.   
  4. Place the cup in a central location in the area being treated.
  5. Tear open the foil pack, place the PuroClenz tablet into the cup of water, and exit the area.
  6. Allow PuroClenz to generate vapor for an hour for minor odor issues, up to overnight for more intense odor issues.
  7. IMPORTANT: Avoid breathing in vapors when returning to the area. PuroClenz will still be partially active at this point.
  8. Upon return, open all windows and doors to allow any remaining PuroClenz to dissipate outside. You can dispose of the remaining product in the cup down any drain or toilet. Drawing fresh air into the treated area using a fan will accelerate the airing-out process.
  9. Your PuroClenz process is now complete.

Liquid Application

  1. Fill a typical 30 to 32 oz. plastic spray bottle with tap water.
  2. Cut open the foil pack using scissors. Drop the tablet into the spray bottle and replace the spray nozzle back onto the bottle tightly.
  3. PuroClenz will become active in approximately 2 minutes. At this point, it will turn yellow in color.   
  4. IMPORTANT: Set spray nozzle to a fine mist.   
  5. Safe to spray on all surfaces such as countertops, floors, carpets, furniture, and drapes (PuroClenz will not discolor or damage fabric at the 4g concentration).   
  6. Keep spray nozzle 4–6 inches away and mist down the desired areas.   
  7. Simply mist fabric surfaces, drapes, carpets, furniture, etc., and you are done!   
  8. For spraying hard surfaces, allow the product to sit for 1–2 minutes before wiping the surfaces down. This will result in better disinfection than standard household cleaners.   

You may store the spray bottle with any remaining PuroClenz in a cool, dark place. It will remain active for up to 6 weeks for additional use!

PuroClenz Standard (20g) – Odor Eliminator For Home

This 20-gram application is used for minor to moderate odor issues in spaces 500 square feet or less. For larger spaces or more severe odor intensity, we recommend using our 100-gram application.

The area being treated should be unoccupied by people and pets during treatment.

  1. PuroClenz works best in dark environments, so it is important to either treat at night or simply close your blinds, drapes, etc.   
  2. Make sure all doors and windows are closed during treatment.   
  3. Fill the designated PuroClenz cup to the 20-gram red fill line with room-temperature water.   
  4. Place the cup in a central location in the area being treated.   
  5. Tear open the foil pack, place the PuroClenz tablet into the cup of water, and exit the area immediately.   
  6. Allow PuroClenz to generate vapor for 1 hour for minor odor issues, and up to overnight for more intense odor issues.
  7. IMPORTANT: Avoid breathing in vapors when returning to the area. PuroClenz will still be partially active at this point.
  8. Upon return, open all windows and doors to allow any remaining PuroClenz to dissipate outside. You can dispose of the remaining product in the cup down any drain or toilet. Drawing fresh air into the treated area using a fan will accelerate the airing-out process.
  9. Your PuroClenz process is now complete.

PuroClenz Ultra (100g) – Extra Strength Odor Killer

For optimal results, using an aerator is recommended. While we no longer sell a proprietary PuroClenz accelerator, an affordable Bubble Box Aerator (available on Amazon for ~$14) works great and can be reused for future treatments.

  1. PuroClenz works best in dark environments, so it is important to either treat at night or simply close your blinds, drapes, etc.
  2. Make sure all doors and windows are closed during treatment.
  3. Fill a 1–2 gallon plastic bucket with approximately 2.5 quarts of water, and place it in a central location of the area being treated. (If using an aerator, attach it to the bucket with the aerator stone in the water and turn it on at this step).
  4. Tear open the foil pack, place the PuroClenz tablet into the bucket of water, and exit the area being treated.
  5. Allow PuroClenz to work for 24 hours.
  6. IMPORTANT: Avoid breathing in vapors when returning to the area. PuroClenz will still be partially active at this point.
  7. Upon return, open all windows and doors to allow any remaining PuroClenz to dissipate outside. You can dispose of the remaining product in the bucket down any drain or toilet. Drawing fresh air into the treated area using a fan will accelerate the airing-out process.
  8. Your PuroClenz process is now complete!

PuroClenz Stabilized Carpet Solution

  1. Fill a 2-gallon container with room temperature water.
  2. Remove powder packet from foil wrapper and add powder to the container.
  3. Stir contents and allow the powder to completely dissolve for 10-15 minutes. The PuroClenz Carpet Solution is ready for use.
  4. Saturate flooring that needs treatment and allow the product to dwell in the area for at least 1 hour.
  5. After an hour has passed, extract the water using a carpet cleaner/extractor, and repeat if needed.
  6. Any unused solution can be stored in a cool, dark place in a sealed container. The product will keep for up to 2 years.
